Case Study: Regional Emergency Management Agency
Challenge
A rapidly growing flood-prone county required a unified flood warning and situational awareness solution to monitor a hazardous river and multiple watershed corridors, while activating sirens, low water crossings, and high-risk roadway locations during rapidly changing flood events. Previous methods lacked real-time visibility and coordinated warning capabilities.
Solution
AWARE S.H.I.E.L.D. was deployed to integrate 30+ flood inundation sensors, 10+ roadway warning systems, cameras, and 10 automated sirens into a single operational dashboard. Configurable alert thresholds were established by location, enabling near real-time monitoring, automated notifications, and coordinated response across emergency management, public works, and first responders.
Result
Emergency personnel gained real-time, street-level visibility into life-threatening flood conditions across critical locations, allowing for faster decision-making and automated public warning activation — improving situational awareness and enhancing public safety during a flash flood and river rise event in 2025 that resulted in 0 injuries or deaths.
